We had our second virtual look into convent life with 5 communities and 150 discerners and those curious about convent life! It was inspirational to see so many women from all over the United States, representing 100 different dioceses! We had a group of American Heritage Girls, families, and two houses of discernment joining us, too.
Each hour gave us a different flavor as each religious community is so incredibly different:
The SOLT (Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity) sisters, Sr. Kateri, Sr. Caritas, and the SOLT novices, shared about their missionary life in community, where they teach or lead in dioceses all over the globe. Find out more about theme here: https://solt.net/

The Religious Sisters of Mercy of Alma, Michigan, had the most ambitious hour of information to give to the ladies. Srs. Teresa Mary, Sr. Marie Faustina, and Sister Maria Jaun, worked together to give us an incredible look into their beautiful convent and their clinic that they run. The sisters are also medical professionals, taking care of others. We met their pustulants and novices throughout the tour, too! Find out more about these sisters here: https://www.rsmofalma.org/

Next on our stop were the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration from Mishawaka, IN. Srs. M. Ignatia and Regina gave us the history of their community, brought us to the adoration chapel, which has an incredible monstrance, where there are sisters adoring 24/7. The tour included time in their main chapel, a stop by their foundresses Blessed Maria Theresia’s Shrine, then a final stop in their heritage room for a Q & A with one of their senior sisters Sr. Dorothy who has lived a full religious life of 63 years. We were blessed to have time with one of the fastest growing communities in the world, The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Srs. Joseph Andrew and Mary Avila shared with us about their Dominican charism, a video of a day-in-the-life in their beautiful Motherhouse, beautiful time in adoration, and an information Q & A. The last group of sisters were the Carmelite Sisters of the Divine Heart of Jesus from St. Louis, MO. Sisters Mary Michael and Maria Josefa sang a chant for us to get us into the spirit of seeing such a monastic community. They showed us a video tour of their convent and explained about their life of prayer, reparation, and mission. Find out more about these sisters here: https://www.carmelitedcj.org/carmelite-sisters

Lastly, we had an hour just for the discerners who participated in the day, so about 100 women visited with two different communities of their choice to have time for more personal connection. They asked questions and found out more about each of the sisters.
We have already received incredible feedback, too!
One discerner said, “The most fruitful part of the day was the breakout rooms at the end for the discerners. It was so great to get more personalized time with the sisters, and I just loved seeing and experiencing their joy. I just felt my heart expand, and I felt a great excitement knowing that God might be calling me to this life someday too!!”
Another discerner said, “The most fruitful part of the day was seeing the joy of sisters! That was by far the most interaction with sisters in my whole life. It was amazing and helped me clarify what a sister is and even what they look like and the variety of communities.”
We announced Behind the Veil #3: A Virtual Look into Various Forms of Consecrated Life that will be held July 17, 2021. Save the date!
