Diocese of Albany, NY Vocation Summit

When I was invited to speak at the Vocation Summit for the Diocese of Albany, New York, I was thrilled to go back to this wonderful state to visit some of the most committed Catholics, ready to bring about a culture of vocations!

Rhonda with Bishop Sharfenberger. What I was not ready for was the 450 people who showed up ready to find out who to bring about more vocations! Bishop Scharfenberger and Fr. Anthony, the Vocations Director, are ready to make a change!

First, I was so overwhelmed being at the site for the Summit the Shrine of the North American Martyrs.  I wondered why the Holy Spirit had me in South Dakota, where St. Kateri Tekakwitha is revered and referenced often, two weeks prior to coming to her birthplace in Ossernenon, New York. Wow! I was supposed to find out more about her and ask for her intercession.

Secondly, I am normally on the road by myself, so it was a real treat to be one of three presenters. Sam Alzheimer, owner of Vianney Vocations, spoke to the educators and youth ministers. Fr. Tim Birney, the Vocation Director for the Archdiocese of Detroit, gave the keynote and spoke to the priests. We had such a wonderful time getting to know the people of Albany and the surrounding areas!

Lastly, I had the distinct honor of speaking to about 300 parishioners representing 300,000 Catholics, my largest crowd yet! I feel that New York, in a particular way, realizes that we are in a vocation crisis and must take action! Thank you, Albany for stepping up in a HUGE way! I hope to see you again soon!
