Diocese of Fairbanks

I had an eye-opening experience when speaking about Vocation Ministry in the Diocese of Fairbanks, Alaska! This diocese is size of the state of Texas and a half, has 42 parishes, and 14 priests! 14 priests! Imagine 14 priests traveling the state of Texas and Oklahoma to bring Jesus’ healing and Eucharist to parishioners. Many parishioners only see a priest every 2-3 months. Bishop Chad Zielinski flies around the globe, begging (his words) for priests to come to Alaska.

Map of alaska. After my talk, Bishop Zielinski said he could not agree more with the mission of Vocation Ministry and asked all in attendance to get involved, knowing that he was behind them 100%!

Ray Guarendi and Rhonda.

The next speaker was Dr. Ray Guarendi (pictured right), from EWTN’s radio show The Dr. Is In, who cracked everyone up! It was a little surreal to have my books next to all of his!

Lastly, I was thinking before Mass How will I get all the books home that I don’t sell. My bags are full! Shortly after that I just had to trust Jesus and focus on the message. After my presentation, a parent of one of the 3 seminarians for this diocese paid for all 40 books so that every parish could have one free! Wow, Holy Spirit, just wow!

Rhonda with her family.Another blessing about this trip was that our family made it a Vocation Vacation! So we were able to visit some amazing sights and experience the beauty of the 49th state- Alaska! We are pictured here with Bishop Chad at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in North Pole, Alaska! fore Mass how will I get all the books home that I don’t sell. At some point, I said to myself don’t worry about that anymore just focus on the message. Afterwards, a parent of the lone seminarian for Fairbanks paid for all 40 books so that every parish could have one free! Please pray that many parishioners are inspired to start a Vocation Ministry at their parishes. We need a new wave of vocations for this mission diocese. St. Alphonsus Liguori, pray for us!
