Sometimes we asked to come to beautiful places to hold workshops! Now, don’t get me wrong. Every diocese has beauty to offer. I live in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, and I love it. BUT I don’t think that it is an incredibly beautiful place to live. We have no mountain or ocean view, and the brownish Gulf of Mexico does not count. When Leticia and I were asked to come back to San Diego, I knew we were going to spend more time on the ground exploring this amazing city!
Yes, we gave our workshop to dozens of parishioners in English and Spanish, and they were wonderful! What I will remember is breathing deeply the fresh air off the Pacific Ocean and watching the sun set. It is truly remarkable! Maybe it is just me, but I think it is easier to contemplate God when you are amidst such beauty!
We also went to Mass at the first mission church in California founded 250 years ago by St. Junipero Serra. Then, Leticia and I sauntered around Little Italy and ate homemade pasta before flying home! Love seeing the US through a Catholic lens!
St. Serra, pray for us!
