Just when I think my life can’t get any crazier, it does! I did not plan to write a book, build a website, or travel the nation speaking on vocations. Each day I say to God that I want to do His will! He keeps me super busy!

With all these twists and turns my life has taken since Fr. Victor Perez asked me to attend a meeting about “priests and such” in October of 2011, I need spiritual direction. Though Fr. Victor is not at St. Cecilia anymore, he remains my spiritual guide. At my last session with him a few days after my time in Chicago and Joliet, I told him of my need for a retreat and that I was going to make reservations for one before I see him again in 6 weeks.

Fr. Victor whipped out his cell phone and said, “I just received an email from a parishioner about some awesome retreats near EWTN in Alabama.” I looked them over, but none of them spoke to me.

A few days later I received an email, asking if I would be available to come to Irondale, Alabama to visit the studios of EWTN to sit down with Fr. Mitch Pacwa, S.J. for an hour-long interview. Oh, and it will be a live show! In front of an audience! I may also be able to tape a show of “Bookmark with Doug Keck,” too, while I am there! Come on, I cannot make this stuff up!

I spent the entire day on the phone sharing the good news with friends, family, and Vocation Ministry’s Board of Directors! Everyone was as blown away!

When on the phone with Fr. Victor, sharing the good news, I asked if he could come along to support me spiritually, but he could not be away from his parish during those days. Then, I thought about the fact that he had just a few days earlier told me about retreats by EWTN. Why don’t I take the time that I am at EWTN to retreat, attend daily Mass, Adoration, and tour the amazing grounds? Yes, this will be an amazing retreat!

A few days lafter the first EWTN email, I received an email from a Fr. Mark asking for a radio interview while in town. The only priest by the name of Fr. Mark I could think of was the Vocation Director for Rapid City, South Dakota, but that did not seem quite right. I googled Fr. Mark Mary to find out that he is one of the “Rocking Compadres” on “Life on the Rock,” a TV show I have been watching for years on EWTN! This just keeps getting better!

Tune in April 13, 2016 at 7PM for the live show or the replays on Thursday, April 14 at 12 AM & 8 AM and again on Sunday, April 17, 3 AM! All Times are Central Standard Time.

Please pray for me!

Father Mitch.
