The Vocare dinner, which is a fundraising dinner for 450 people for the Diocese of Owensboro, KY. This small diocese has some wonderfully generous benefactors for their seminarians. Can I tell you that speaking to a room of 450 people is a little intimidating, to say the least!!!!
Now, I love talking about vocations, and it was clear that the devil did not want me to do so on this night. A few minutes into my 20-minute speech, my clicker is not responding quickly (we tested it beforehand), and I have to push it over and over for my next slide to appear. The vocation secretary finally had to start manually changing slides. Then, with a few minutes left, my hand-held mic goes out! There was another mic thankfully, but it was crazy! To have two tech issues in one short speech was new for me.
Even with all that, the message of the need for vocation promotions was said loudly and clearly! I met some of the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception, too! Bishop Medley asked if he could take his picture with me! I will never get used to that request as I am one of our bishops’ biggest fans!
The parishioner workshop the next day was wonderful, as well! Keep praying! Blessed Mother, pray for us! St. Michael, defend us!
