What a blessing to see some familiar faces again! This was the first follow-up workshop, where I had not met the participants in person before! Our first encounter was supposed to be at the Cathedral in the Diocese of Syracuse in November 2020, but the pandemic shut us down. We pivoted, and within 4 days, we did an amazing virtual workshop for 181 participants, representing 79% of their parishes. Incredible.
Six months later, we had 60 people on the follow-up workshop to learn how to create an atmosphere where vocations permeate everywhere! We covered:
- How to get the Vocations Calendar into the hands of all the right people in the parish
- Implementation of Phase I activities, like bulletin blurbs, prayers of the faithful, and Mass announcements
- Upcoming activities: Priesthood Sunday and National Vocation Awareness Week
The Diocese of Syracuse is the model diocese for vocations. They have declared this year is the Year of Vocations under the patronage of St. Joseph. In addition to priests and parishioners, the Office of Vocations is activating other groups to see how they can promote vocations, including youth, young adult, and campus ministry, Catholic school principals and teachers, catechists, and more! Keep up the great work, Syracuse! The Holy Spirit will have fertile ground to plant many seeds in the coming years!
God bless you!
