Uplift Your Priest

2nd & 3rd Weeks of Easter

Parish

Our priests are being called into great heroic action, all while pouring out an overabundant amount of love and support for all of us. In 2020, we launched the “Uplift Your Priest” campaign on the Monday after the 2nd Sunday of Easter. The campaign inspires the laity to affirm and encourage their priests, especially after Lent and Easter.

Classroom Activities

Engage your students in supporting and praying for their priest through these classroom-friendly activities during the 2nd and 3rd weeks of Easter.

1. Classroom Prayer Campaign

  • Create a prayer chain where each student writes a short prayer for their priest on a strip of paper, then link them together and present them as a gift.
  • Designate a daily prayer moment for priests during morning or closing prayers.
  • Assign different grades to pray for different priests in the diocese.

2. Priest Appreciation Letters & Artwork

  • Have students write thank-you notes or spiritual bouquets expressing gratitude for their priest’s service.
  • Younger students can draw pictures of their priest celebrating Mass or engaging with the community.
  • Older students can write a reflection on what the priesthood means to them.

3. Vocations Bulletin Board or Classroom Display

  • Dedicate a section of the classroom to showcase “Our Priest in Action”—pictures of your priest at school, a short biography, or fun facts about his journey.
  • Create a Vocations Tree, where students add leaves with prayers or kind words for priests.
  • Feature a “Did You Know?” board with information about priestly life and vocations.
  • Download our new Vocation Day Display—an editable Canva resource for schools to showcase vocation-themed announcements on their classroom screens and TVs.

4. Class Gifts for Your Priest

  • Assemble a spiritual bouquet by having each student offer a prayer, Mass intention, or good deed.
  • Gift a prayer jar with handwritten prayers for the priest to read throughout the year.
  • Have students make small care packages with notes and treats for priests.

5. Invite Your Priest to the Classroom

  • Organize a Q&A session where students can ask about their priest’s vocation and daily life.
  • Have your priest share a reflection on the joy of the Resurrection and how priests help bring Christ to the faithful through the sacraments.
  • Host a “Lunch with Father” where students can interact with him in a casual setting.

6. Acts of Service for Priests

  • Assign students to pray for their priest each week and let him know via a card or email.
  • If possible, students can help clean the church or sacristy as a class service project.
  • Encourage families to invite the priest over for dinner or send a meal to the rectory.

These activities will help students recognize the importance of the priesthood and show appreciation for the spiritual guidance their priest provides. Let’s uplift our priests together!
